There has never been a better time than now to take advantage of coupons.

As a matter of fact, with just a little planning, it is actually possible to cut your grocery bill 25% or more using coupons.

Just imagine how much a 25% grocery savings every month will add up in a year. For a family of 5 such as ours, it is about of $1800.00 in savings per year. That is HUGE!

Here are a few tips for maximum coupon benefit:

Each Sunday, purchase at least 2 Sunday papers.

Make your grocery list and match coupons with items on your list. ONLY buy items with coupons. If the Sunday paper does not have a coupon for the item you want, check online. Simply search google for (as example) “Scott Tissue Coupon”.

Are you an “online” shopper? Make sure you also use coupons and promotional codes for your online shopping as well.

Garage Sales

Don’t forget to look for garage sales in your neighborhood. If they’re anything like the ones in our neighborhoods they’ll be on Fridays and Saturdays. You can find out about these by looking for signs around town or even checking the classified section of your local papers. You can find some great deals there and don’t be afraid to haggle if you think something may be overpriced. You’ll be surprised at some of the bargains you can pick up!

Love Books! Don’t Buy Them, Borrow Them!

I love to read. I find the costs of books outrageous. What really gets to me is some people forget that nearly free (uhm, some libraries charge a small free) place to get books: the good old public library! You can’t do better than free. Just remember to return them and you’ll find your library not only has a good selection of books, but some also have great multimedia sections.

Storing Yarn

Cats getting to your yarn? Cut the top off of an old two liter cola bottle (be sure to wash and dry well first). Slip the skein of yarn into the bottom of the bottle and thread the yarn through the neck of the bottle. Once done, tape the bottle back together and pull out the yarn as needed. Cheap, easy protection!
